Prasat Rang house church - Day 4

Last night our team sang some worship songs together during our debrief. We shared about our day, the things we observed, and what we were most impacted by. After some sharing and singing we prayed. The night was restful and we were excited to get back out with the kids in the villages.

Today we drove a couple hours outside of the city to another village church. Our friend Minister Chan Tou helped build the shelter they use as their building.

Here are the kids standing outside of the church. We played games and colored the felt crosses again. Spending lots of time just being with the kids.

I met Gi (not sure how to spell) and his wife and daughter came later on.

He taught me how to say "beautiful" in Khemer. I learned once more to find joy in simple "hellos" and smiles.

This little boy in yellow would not start coloring. He watched his friends color and was just sitting looking confused. I was sitting beside him and decided to help him color. As he held the marker I moved his hand in a coloring manner. Once he saw that in fact he was making color occur, his demeanor changed completely. After a little while I came back over and he was going to town on his cross! It was awesome to see.

Our team took lots of pictures of all the kids. When we did we'd often show the kids the pictures afterwards. They loved seeing themselves. Even the minister of the village and our translators were taking pictures of us with the kids.

As we sang some songs the kids also sang along. I noticed on their shelf a songbook. In it I found classics like: I know whom I believed and Lord I lift your name on high.

Praising God so simply today, even so far out in a remote village was powerful. I truly sang Open the eyes of my heart from my heart. Reading this Psalm just cemented it in.

Psalm 34:1-3,6,8-9,11-15,17-18 NIV
I will extol the Lord at all times; his praise will always be on my lips. [2] I will glory in the Lord; let the afflicted hear and rejoice. [3] Glorify the Lord with me; let us exalt his name together. [6] This poor man called, and the Lord heard him; he saved him out of all his troubles. [8] Taste and see that the Lord is good; blessed is the one who takes refuge in him. [9] Fear the Lord, you his holy people, for those who fear him lack nothing. [11] Come, my children, listen to me; I will teach you the fear of the Lord. [12] Whoever of you loves life and desires to see many good days, [13] keep your tongue from evil and your lips from telling lies. [14] Turn from evil and do good; seek peace and pursue it. [15] The eyes of the Lord are on the righteous, and his ears are attentive to their cry; [17] The righteous cry out, and the Lord hears them; he delivers them from all their troubles. [18] The Lord is close to the brokenhearted and saves those who are crushed in spirit.

May The Lord hear your cry and bless your day, grace and peace!
